This year was a triumph! I was lucky! Advent, for once , started with quiet reflection – away from home in York.  I was able to go through dark streets, empty and cleansed,to the first Eucharist of the day in the Minister. In my head I always plan to savour Advent in such a way but, reality always takes precedent. For many others as well I always comfort myself! The problem, I think,  is we like to be prepared. If we are organised  we are in control: be it work, family life, social commitments….The list is endless – indeed I often need a list of my lists!
And surely at the heart of our preparation is the need to let go and relinquish control.
