Waiting with patience.

It’s getting nearer – the adverts tell us so!

“Buy, buy!  Spend, spend!

The economy’s in crisis the High Street may go bust!”

But where’s the hush?  The bated breath.

The “Hush! He’s coming, He’s coming soon!”

Even in Church the cries are: “Don’t forget the Carol singing, the Nine Lessons, the cleaning day.  They’re coming really soon”.

And they of course really show our devotion, our commitment our…. faith?

The hush is in our hearts.  The silence within us.

The expectation is invisible, intangible, real.

Real in a way the busy world cannot know.  In a way the rushed cannot feel.

Real as it was for the angels.

And for Him.

  1. Thank you – this made me take a deep breath, calm down and think about my faith. My husband heard my big sigh and was worried. I explained it was a sigh of pleasure. So thankyou again.

  2. Aw, shucks! It’s amazing what you can do with a Nokia camera phone (and SYS English soaking up Donne and Browning – Betjeman for pleasure came later).
